About Reiki
Reiki, pronounced [ray’ key], is an ancient form of energy healing, where a practitioner places their hands gently on or a few inches above various areas of a person’s body.
You either sit in a chair or lie on a massage table and remains dressed during the session. Sessions can be virtual or in-person (reasonable distance from Portland, Maine).
You can feel Reiki’s energy flow as a tingling or warm sensation. Some find it more cooling, while others report no actual feeling, however, you do not have to “feel” the energy for it to be effective.
Reiki is known to help with many concerns, such as reducing stress; a Reiki session is known to be very relaxing. However, it does more than that. Clients receive Reiki for many other types of concerns, such as boosting mood, enhancing the quality of sleep, easing physical pain, and generally improving the quality of life.
There are no known adverse side effects. Reiki, however, is a complementary therapy, and should never take the place of traditional medicine but rather be used as an additional or complementary approach for one’s health concerns.
